Scholar Showcase

by Markus Foster

It took the Scholar Program Committee a month and a half to plan this amazing fun and beautiful Showcase. Wow they must really love doing this.

The showcase is a special night where we recognize our Scholar Students for their achievements for 1st semester. The amazing showcase was hosted on January 23, 2020 in the fellowship hall of the BLC church. Parents and Grandparents were invited to join us for a potluck dinner and were treated to a red carpet entrance with glitz and gold.

The night is full of entertainment. There is a science fair display from our Chemistry and STEM students. The Key of Liberty students put on a skit to demonstrate what they learned about George Washington. The Mission Hero students recited the Gettysburg Address, and the Shakespeare class put on a hilarious skit about the Merchant of Venice. The highlight of the Scholar Showcase is when the Mission Hero students receive their Civil War swords. Class Alumni line the aisle and form a saber arch for the new recipients to walk through in front of their family and the school.

The reason we do this Scholar Showcase every year is because it’s a tradition of our FILA school and the mentors believe it is worth celebrating their student efforts in the year- and personally, so do I.
